I worked at Jincheng College, Sichuan University, in the delivery of a creative workshops to undergraduate students of mixed disciplines, which included textile, interior and product design. Working initially as individuals, then in pairs and finally as two large groups, the students were set a progressive sequence of creative design challenges to overcome.

Adventures in the New World was a workshop which lasted five days. The children were divided into two teams who set about capturing territory in a imaginary 10 x 15 square world. The teams then built upon their territories and voluntarily adapted roles within their own societies such as soldiers and shopkeepers. The teams then had to go to war and destroy the other's creations. Finally they had to rebuild their world either as individuals or in teams. The children decided to unite and build a huge walled city.

Fiction + Function = Fun was a series of ten workshops over a five day period. Children aged 6-11 years old engaged in activities which encouraged creativity, teamwork and problem-solving. The activities ranged from storywriting and printmaking through to crossing an imaginary river and inventiong new body parts.
